The Magic of Yoga Retreats

One year ago I was packing my bathing suit and getting ready to lead my first yoga retreat, not sure where the experience would lead me.

Turns out taking the chance on co-leading that retreat in El Salvador last year profoundly impacted our entire group. It was a gently structured yoga retreat that ended up being wrapped in a series of poignant, unplanned moments – powerful meditations, witnessing sweet baby sea turtles make their way to sea for the first time, connecting with locals as they celebrated their passed on relatives for Day of the Dead… One of my favorite moments happened as our group was drying off from a swim under a beautiful waterfall when this extraordinary butterfly landed on Nicole’s arm. My jaw literally dropped (as you can see!) THIS is the butterfly I always tried to draw when I was child, mesmerized by the intense shades of blue. It didn’t seem like it could be a real creature but there it was, appearing out of seemingly nowhere to remind me to pay attention to this wondrous universe. The ONLY way to experience this kind of magic is through presence and an openness to what the world has to offer.

If you need a change of perspective and a reminder of all the beauty in this world, you might consider joining me on retreat! You don’t need to have a lot of yoga experience, just a willingness to show up for yourself.

My co-host Nicole and I are headed back to El Salvador for 6 nights April 24th – 30th, 2027 and I can’t wait to share this special place with more people. It is yoga, and relaxation but there are also opportunities to surf and hike and spend time in the small villages not yet overrun by tourists.

If travelling out of the country isn’t in the cards right now, maybe you will be the lucky one to snag the last private or shared room for our Wild Wonder Retreat in Joshua Tree CA, April 14th – 18th 2027?

And if travelling out of state still feels like a stretch, get on the waitlist for when Jenny and I to return to Lake Crescent in summer 2027.

May there not be a single year that goes by that I don’t push myself to grow, to try new things, and to experience the world in as many ways as possible! And I wish the the same for you.
